It’s true, the cornerstone for your online success really is building a robust content strategy.
Let me explain…
The saying ‘build it an they will come’ is simply a mutation of an actual quote from a movie that Ray Kinsella (played by Kevin Costner) whispered to himself while walking through his cornfield one evening, in Field of Dreams.
And, that line was actually “If you build it, he will come.”
Well, ‘build it and they will come’ has NEVER applied to a website… NEVER!
A website by itself… will soon be lost in all of the traffic noise on today’s internet highway.
Any business serious about competing online… be it a small, local business or a large global online business… you need a well-planned content strategy.
Such a plan is not simply beneficial but essential to your online visibility and marketing success.
So, if you’re sick and tired of paying for ads that disappear the minute the payment period expires, then perhaps you should take a closer look at creating your content strategies.
But, don’t believe me…
Content as the First Step
One particular business owner Isabella Bedoya, discovered early on as to how vital a content strategy is.
And recently Isabella mentioned that fact in a talk where she emphasized her use of content to leverage her funnel, highlighting it as a critical first step in her strategy.
And, don’t worry…
There are a lot more platforms than just your website in which you can publish quality content on… content that will help boost your online presence and your authority.
For example: you can create videos on popular platforms like YouTube, Rumble and Vimeo, infographs for use on Instagram, slideshows, podcasts, and yes… even blog posts on other sites.
And, these are merely a fraction of the many different platforms that are available to almost anyone to publish on.
Benefits of a Healthy Content Strategy
And then there’s Arlene Dickerson, who many of you may already know from Dragons Den, who stated how important it is to do branding.
She made her statement in a clip during the Dragons Den that was first aired on CBC on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 8:00 pm.
The following is some of what Arlene stated:
“Brand building creates value in a company and gives it a competitive advantage.
As time passes, a brand’s value increases along with the value of the business.
For a company that builds it effectively, a brand can become one of its most valuable assets.”
Content strategy can definitely help businesses build their brand… and, in a cost-effective manner when it’s done right, making it much easier now to compete with the big guys.
Arlene went on to say…
“Like other aspects of a business, branding requires planning.
The most successful companies start planning their brands in the start-up phase. With the help of a knowledgeable branding specialist, entrepreneurs can focus on the most appropriate way to build a brand and avoid costly mistakes”

Implementing Your Content Strategy
Here’s an example of what you could do, especially if you have already got an active, up-to-date blog on your website.
Take your best blog post and sit in front of your webcam or mobile device camera and talk about the topic in that post.
Heck, you could even read it to your viewers if you’d prefer… just don’t make that a habit because talking to your viewers though they’re right in front of you works best.
Then, upload that video to your YouTube account.
Now, go to your copy of Audacity (free audio recording/editing software) or other similar audio recording software if you prefer… and use it to record yourself literally reading your post like you’re a professional narrator.
Then use that recording and upload it to a podcast platform.
A quick Google search will help you find podcast platforms that you can upload your audio files to.
See?
Now you have two more pieces of content that you can share on other platforms, and you will have started your very own content strategy.
The more quality content that you share on these other platforms will help improve your online visibility, and in turn improve your authority in your niche.
And, when you consistently use your business name when sharing your content, this will help you improve your branding!
Conclusion
When you provide content that your target audience will find helpful, then you will be aligning your content to your audience needs and this will provide your business with maximum impact.
Be sure to enhance your current content strategies or start building one, if you haven’t already.
This will save you money when compared to paid ads… and get you more paying customers/client!
And then, in the future when you do pay for ads, you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck.
