There is nothing more frustrating than Microsoft burying the Account Settings for Outlook on my computer.
Was not nice to have to call my computer doctor in order to get help finding how to change email account settings in Outlook 2016 on Windows 10.
Nowhere could I find the necessary help Google searching.
That is why I decided to write this simple set of instructions should this happen again in the near future… or, if you should need help finding this information.
You can no longer access Account Settings from INSIDE your Outlook software, like you used to. This is where you can change your incoming and outgoing email servers.
Now you can only access that option from your computer Control Panel. See screen print below.
Clicking on the Mail (Microsoft Outlook) option, you will get the tiny Mail Setup option… and you will need to click on Email Accounts next.
Once you have clicked on Email Accounts, then you will get the Account Settings option.
From this window, you would select the email account that you wish to make changes on, and click on that email address in order to open the Change Account window. As seen in the screen print below.
You only need to change the necessary fields shown in the screen print above, in order to update or change your email account settings in Outlook 2016, in Windows 10.
Once you have filled in the necessary fields to make the changes to your email account, simply click on the Next > button.
Clicking on the Next > button forces Microsoft Outlook to test your connection.
Now you simply click on the Close button…
…and you will find the last step… now click the Finish button as shown in the screen print below.
Then you will find your computer back at the Email Account Settings… where you will simply need to click on the Close button, as shown in the screen print below.
Then your computer will be back to Mail Settings – Outlook. Click on the Close button, as shown in the screen print below.
Close your control panel as shown in the screen print below, and you are ready to return to work.
Hope you find this as helpful as I will next time that I need to make any changes like I did recently, when moving my email account to another server.
